Definition: Virtualization is the creation of a virtual (rather than actual) version of something, such as an operating system, a server, a storage device or network resources.
In the past, the IT world has been locked to basically providing 1
machine for 1 operating system. With this exciting new technology, it
allows you to not to be bound to the 1:1 ratio. With the properly
configured hardware you can free up space and save on electricity while
still providing server and desktop platforms.
One example is a client who has a server and 7
workstations. While in the office the systems function and look
just like what we would consider a typical office. On days
where the same staff is working out of the office, utilizing the virtual
machines, they can work just like they do in the office, but in another
office in another town. Hardware costs are reduced, and
workflows are simplified.
We would enjoy the opportunity to sit down with you
and discuss how virtualization could fit into your office.
