Definition:
Off-site data protection, or vaulting, is the strategy of sending
critical data out of the main location (off the main site) as part of a
disaster recovery plan. Data is usually transported off-site using
removable storage media such as magnetic tape or optical storage. Data
can also be sent electronically via a remote backup service, which is
known as electronic vaulting or e-vaulting. Sending backups off-site
ensures systems and servers can be reloaded with the latest data in the
event of a natural disaster, accidental error, or system crash. Sending
backups off-site also ensures that there is a copy of pertinent data
that isn't stored on-site. Off-site backup services are convenient for
companies that backup pertinent data on a daily basis.
Over the years, we have observed company's needs grow
from backing up 100's of Megabytes to 100's of Gigabytes.
Tape drives just can't handle this amount of data. In the last
couple of years we have developed offsite solutions that are custom for
many of our clients. We can back up your data to our office and
ensure your data is safe and available to you quickly if your onsite
systems fail.
